Power testing on trucks
Power testing commercial vehicles (trucks, busses, coaches etc)
Power tests on commercial vehicles with outputs of more than 1000 hp can be performed with the Dynomet dynamometer.
The Dynomet 4.11 is a portable dynamometer and the tests are carried out on the road in normal driving conditions with no undue stress on the vehicle and with no wheel slip. In this environment the tests take into account the wind resistance and the road- and gear frictions. The system provides a means of a test of very accuracy.
The test must be performed on a flat reasonably strait stretch of road approximately 700m kilometre long. A gentle even incline is also useable, driving uphill.
The power test consists of an acceleration from lowest possible rpm to highest possible rpm followed by a short deceleration.
The system can provide you with the following results:
· Acceleration shown as speed/time from O km/h to top speed.
· Acceleration measured in distance/time.
· Acceleration in specific gears.
· True top speed.
· Power and torque shown as graphs from idle to top rpm.
· Wind resistance and road- and gear friction.
· Speedometer variations shown as table or bar diagram.
· Analysis of the car's performance, for example through a predetermined stretch of road/course.
· The braking ability of the vehicle measured in m/sec² and kN.
On all newer commercial vehicles, it is possible to use the pulses generated for the tachograph or speed limiter. This avoids the mounting of the disc on a wheel.
